Technically Speaking

I’m assuming that Om Malik of GigaOm.com and Web Worker Daily is there as he filed this report about Yahoo looking outside for their Mojo. Technically Speaking I think there is no one reading this!

Yes, ads are here to stay. It’s apparant that if you put enough blinking pictures, animations, tiny flash games, and scantily clad models on someone’s page, someone is bound to click one right? I guess Six Apart and LiveJournal rolled out some ads last night. Users don’t appear to be too happy.

Rex Dixon is going to have to agree - Apple likes to stay ahead. Their latest iMacs Core 2 Duo will come equipped with the Broadcom BCM4321-series chip. Broadcom proudly boasts as the “first IEEE 802.11n draft-compliant solution.” Read the full Engadget story here. When will MAC become the #1 choice for consumers?

The Sony PS3. Game consoles are a billion dollar industry, with the minor competition all but having been weeded out. I have always said, “If you talk the talk, you better be able to walk the walk.” Well the Japanese can be smug and flipant at times, but when you are an innovation nation - basically - you can back up your smack talk, with the “walk” as shown in my last blog post below; Technically Speaking that is.

Senators Mike DeWine (R) and Herb Kohl (D) want AT&T/BellSouth combo to divest some of their WiMAX-related spectrum. Read the full story in the link. I personally don’t like federal government having anything to do with the internet, but I guess that’s why they call it the FCC.

Even things on the foreign telcom market isn’t stable these days. India is having it’s share of Telcom issues. I better then allot of people understand the issue of telcom owning the lines, and the internet (ISP’s) using them. I was at a certain telcom place that took over one of the biggest ISP’s back in 2001.

My question to many people has always been - How come Europe and Japan innovate and advance the technology? Oh, that’s right, I said something to that effect already a few blogs ago; Technically Speaking that is.

Looks like Shutterfly raised $87 million in their IPO today! Wow! Did Rex Dixon say something about ohhhhh…. in a very recent podcast like on Monday about the new dot com boom? Or was I just Technically Speaking to myself?

$15 million B round for Podshow. I heard about this yesterday, or the speculation of it going down. I checked out the web site for Podshow - and if you are web 2.0 developer, have experience with micro payments, or deploying new video services — well just go check out their job podcast. Honestly, with that kind of funding,  this might be a place you want to check out for a new gig; Technically Speaking that is.
