Conde Nast-Reddit, Google-Jotspot, eSnips, Prosper, Google Video

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

Just so much going on this Tuesday, Halloween 2006.

Conde Nast just acquired Reddit. The guys over at TechCrunch have the lowdown.
Google (who else!) just announced the aquisition of Jotspot.

eSnips just closed their series A funding round and picked up $2 million.

Prosper is announcing they are up to 100,000 members and $20 million in funded loans.

From late yesterday, Google again. This time Google Video.

Technically Speaking, that’s it for the moment. More to come later on!

GPS, Facebook, Mobile Content

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

Katie of GigaOm says that GPS is taking off. If you listened to my podcast from last night, other people think differently.

Facebook is like Rex Dixon - World Wide Live! Okay, maybe a little more world wide then Rex, but still Facebook is everywhere. Even on my podcast from last night, and on the new Coffee with Rex Dixon show,  you can hear about the great new book by a former Facebook engineer. Well at least for this week.

$150 million is allot of money. That is what Katie is saying concerning how venture firms and investors seemed to have poured their money into startups that create or enable mobile content. Mobile content is the hot money for you, or where the hot money such as that last $150 million went too!

Technically Speaking, yes, there is MORE!

MySpace to stop the music, Electronic Voting, PHP and Windows

Tuesday, October 31st, 2006

The social networking powerhouse MySpace and Fox Interactive Media unit said it has licensed security technology from GraceNote that will help it block unauthorized copyrighted music audio recordings from being posted on the MySpace.com Web site.

Sequoia Voting Systems, a major vendor of electronic voting machines in the United States, rejected allegations that Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez may have manipulated the vote tally in a Chicago election earlier this year.

Microsoft is officially helping to fund a joint effort with PHP vendor Zend to ensure that PHP works well on Microsoft’s server platforms.

Technically Speaking, more right around the corner!
