Yahoo update today…
Yahoo will be releasing a new calendar module, something called My Netflix, and an update to their bookmarking module. The My Netflix will be using Netflix API. It seems that everyone wants you to use their service now as companies such as Netvibes and yourminis.
Yahoo wants to stay in focus and be your start page. Google wants to be your start page. Currently I use yourminis, and before that I was on Netvibes. I don’t think of Yahoo or Google as something that should be a start page. What I am saying is that they should have grabbed on to the concept years ago. Now they just feel like an old empire reaching out to achieve past glory today.
It seems like they are just trying to play catch up with the big dogs in the start page industry. Yahoo plans to roll this out today, Thursday May 17th. It should be interesting considering all the press that Google received yesterday and still is this morning. Two of the biggest trying to stay in the news of everyone’s mind.
Technically Speaking, seeing these big companies with all their employees coming up after the fact is not impressing the general audience. The big play would have been to just outright buy one of these companies and mold them into the big company of Yahoo. This looks like standard, monkey see, monkey do.
