Google to bid on 700mhz spectrum

Friday, November 30th, 2007

Google has made the formal announcement this morning that it will be bidding on the 700mhz spectrum. This means the wireless providers who had no fear of Google in the past now has a billion dollar force to contend with. There are no other players in with Google, or no partners on this bid.

The Silicon Valley-based company said it will submit a formal application with the U.S. Federal Communications Commission on Monday.

I found some additional coverage this morning that goes into a bit more of this move by Google.

Google wants to own spectrum so that it can compete with Verizon and the other major carriers, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile, which so far have controlled what applications and devices can access their networks.

Technically Speaking, this move by Google is more in lines with their world domination by 2020 - Everything Google, everywhere. But if you are tired of Google you might be interested in creating some virtual piggy banks for your children/your future! mineral makeup

Mahalo move over, here comes Askville

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

askville.pngAmazon launches Askville into the public this morning. It has been in beta according since December 2006 according to this article on Reuters. Now it appears that Mahalo has some competition, and it also appears that search is headed this way? I ask that not as tongue in cheek, but seriously. Is this the future of search?

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Amazon.com Inc, the world’s largest Web retailer, launched Askville.com, an information-sharing Web site where users can ask questions and answer queries from others, on Thursday.

The site, open to all of its customers, has been in beta testing since December 2006 and has already been open to a few users, Amazon said.

Technically Speaking, I’m sure their will be great reviews of this site later on this morning. For now, here is a screen shot of the public site for everyone to try. One thing I notice is how similar the color scheme is to Mahalo. :)

Niche social networking site College Today cashes into the corporate world

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

collegetonight.pngCollege Tonight, Inc., the evolution of collegiate social networking, announced today the completion of its merger with Simex Technologies, Inc. As a part of the transaction, before and at closing of the merger, College Tonight raised $1,639,500 in equity capital in private placements to accredited investors.

Over the next several months, as College Tonight’s national “Disorientation” college tour continues, College Tonight will introduce its members to an array of fresh and unique features including mobility. Through this dual online/offline marketing platform, sponsors will have an opportunity to expose their product to what has been called the most difficult to reach and fragmented audience in history

College Tonight is a social networking experience and marketing platform, which is designed to promote actual social interactivity among college students. Due to the mobile nature of the site, the service’s design is also structured for the mobile user, focusing on nightlife events and social opportunities both directly on a student’s campus and within their broader communities. College Tonight’s platform intends to allow advertisers an opportunity to tap into the world of active, outgoing and socially motivated college students - the “trendsetters” and “tastemakers” of society.

Simex issued College Tonight shareholders a total of 2,412,800 shares of Series A Convertible Preferred Stock, which are automatically convertible into approximately 74% of Simex’s common stock upon the filing of certain amendments to Simex’s Certificate of Incorporation. Simex intends to file an amendment to its Certificate of Incorporation to increase its authorized common stock from 50,000,000 to 100,000,000 shares, to effect a one for four reverse split, and to change its name to “College Tonight, Inc.” upon compliance with SEC proxy regulations.

Technically Speaking, this is a niche social networking site cashing in with corporate backing. Read some more on what TC had to say back earlier this month. land for sale

ImLive announces $125 per new user affiliate program

Thursday, November 29th, 2007

imlive.pngImLive.com, a well established and successful webcam chat site, has an incredibly sophisticated affiliate program and offers endless incentives to those who would be willing to promote the site on the web. This month for example, ImLive is paying affiliates $125 for each new sign up they generate.

ImLive.com was founded in 2002 and is today the leading webcam chat arena on the internet. ImLive serves as an online community to thousands of affiliates, over 18,000 thousand expert hosts and 10 million members from all around the globe. Membership is free to all, over the age of 18 years and is extremely user friendly.

Technically Speaking, if this affiliate program is all that it is cracked up to be, $125 is a good way to start laddering your way to a short term savings plan. Most affiliate programs are hard to make any money, but this one seems to be looking for new users so at $125 a new user, it might be worth a look.
