No Clue people…

Sunday, February 24th, 2008

You know the type. The person that acts like they know it all, but have hardly experienced life to the fullest. They are everywhere, and usually they are called pundits in some circles. The latest one I heard is that “Online advertising is dead.” If anyone tells you that, they are in that group of people above. Online advertising is by no means dead.

If you want the truth, just go and ask some person on the inside of an ad network. They’ll tell you how “dead” online advertising is. Advertising online is no way dead. In fact it’s expanding globally to places that have over 1 billion people such as China and India.

I view pundits as people where life has passed them by, and they have time to sit around and basically bitch about this or that.

Dead? Hardly. The pundit that says that to you, just laugh at because Technically Speaking if the small ad network I work for was dead - I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn. children insurance

Lookery is Hiring

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

lookery-logo.pngLookery, the company I work for (full disclosure) is now hiring. If you qualify please read the position details and submit your resume.

How was the trip to California? It was really good. On Super Bowl Sunday I hung out with Molly also known as DemoGirl. We ended up at her friends place, and she has some friends in nice places is all I will say on that.

On Tuesday Todd, Daniel and myself ended up at the MySpace launch party for opening up their platform to app developers. Here is a picture of me at that party taken by Future Works Brian Solis; and another one that he snapped of me. During the day, I met some of our cool publishers we have.

The conference was really good, had some good speakers and good take aways. In fact so much so, that we started our own Get Satisfaction customer service for Lookery. We also started up a Google Groups forum for our community and we jumped on twitter.

Technically Speaking, I’m pretty busy these days!

12.5 cents, MS-Yahoo, CSITNM Monday Feb 4th

Saturday, February 2nd, 2008

Now many of you saw the TechCrunch and the fantastic Mashable coverage as well as the low down from our CEO on our blog about the 12.5 cent guarantee.

I’m sure skeptics are laughing at us, and that’s fine as the point man for Lookery I can honestly say in the past 48 hours or so, we have been nothing but avalanched with new sign ups. Guarantee’s like this are not the norm in the business, and while people are still laughing at the 12.5 cent guarantee, I can guarantee you this - I didn’t get too much sleep since we dropped that announcement. I’m just glad that we have our in house person that totally understands the business.

Now thank goodness that Microsoft decided to buy Yahoo and announce it yesterday. It sort of calmed down the flow for a bit, but new people continue to trickle in. Trust me, it was almost like the old days of working the day gig, and blogging and podcasting until 1am in the morning. Good ol’ 18 - 20 hour days. Fun stuff.

Back to the MS buy or hostile takeover of Yahoo. If Yahoo turns down the offer, than all I can say is they fired the wrong CEO. You don’t get offered $44.6 billion dollars every day. While I agree with Allen’s great analysis of the situation - ie - more jobs lose on the Yahoo side of the house, maybe Microsoft can pull a rabbit out of the hat. Or maybe this is all smoke and mirrors. What I mean is maybe Yahoo has other plans and will counter offer with a more ridiculous price. Than again, whatever the counter offer, I’m sure Microsoft has the money to still write the check.

Tomorrow I’ll be flying out to San Francisco to be at the conference held on Monday Feb 4th - Customer Service is The New Marketing. Looking forward to meeting everyone there, as well as the other people I’m scheduled to meet following Monday’s conference.

Technically Speaking, that’s it from here - Full Disclosure: Rex Dixon works for Lookery. mortgage lenders
