FriendFeed can be…

Unwanted noise. In fact twitter and FriendFeed are two things that most of mainstream world really could care less about. I’d love to see one of those video types get on the street somewhere and ask people what they think of “FriendFeed” as well as “twitter”. I’m sure the answer is going to be “FriendFeed, sounds like some new sexual perversion to me.” and “twitter, that’s what she said!”.

The sad thing is that everyone has now gone ga-ga over FriendFeed, and have foresaken or are having fun twitter bashing due to it’s numerous down times. One thing that will kill any service is downtime. Now there are the hardcore tweeters that will swear that FriendFeed is nothing but noise. It is.

Noise and streaming have now become the standard new start up in the past 6 months. It’s like Web 1.0 again, as every good idea is being regurgitated and copied over again, repeat. It seems like there are a whole group of entrepreneurs thinking about the “next feed” these days. Even the engineers over at Facebook think that a bigger stream of crap is better for everyone. Think about that - is a flowing stream of garbage really worthwhile information?

Apparently these days, if you can come up with another stream, someone will give you some money to make the flow of sh*t river longer. What that tells me as we are entering the waning days of Web 2.0 and heading into Web 3.0, and the next generation of people will have to come up with the true ideas as the this one has generally run out of ideas.

This is something I warned my old kegerator buddy thefloyd about back in 1998. I told him the next generation was going to crawl up and pass his a$$. They did, just ask him how old Mark Zuckerberg was when I made that statement to him.

There is a ton of information out there, and certain groups of startups are rather wasting their time on feeding everyone every single droplet of it. Not that everyone needs the drippings, they figure if we force it down the throats, it will just stick.

There is a ton of good data online, but sometimes you need to really think like a true entrepreneur and not just be a follower of that long river that flows. I’m rather glad that the group of people that I work with are not in that second group, and have figured out it’s better to only take pieces of follower’ville. You can only re-cycle so many times before the shine begins to fade.

btw, yes, I have linked my FriendFeed and twitter accounts - I may not agree with the river of joy that I create, but what the hey - I like to be on the cutting edge (if you want to refer to my river of crap as that).

Technically Speaking, on this holiday weekend - how many of you really give a flip about either one?

I can agree with ya, but, where is FriendFeed and Twitter sailing to down this River of Crap?

@allen - yeah, the old theme caused issues in my WP upgrade, so I don’t have time to mess with it, keeping it simple for now with a generic theme.

@MrBG - who knows? Probably a big pay day somewhere. FF just seems annoying in a way, and the funny thing is that people bash twitter on TWITTER! Lame.
