Future Jobs

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

Do you ever wonder what people would be doing if they weren’t doing what they were currently doing? I think our CTO Dave would have been a National Enquirer writer. Maybe in another lifetime, right now he is doing a funtastic job as our CTO for Lookery.

I still am in awe at the awesome National Enquirer title he came up with for his last blog post.

Lookery - Secrets Exposed - in fact if you haven’t had a second to listen to the podcast interview done with our CEO Scott Rafer, you are missing another great Lookery interview; or as Dave said “Lookery - Secrets Exposed“.

Technically Speaking, yes, I learned the very wise lesson of the power ballad.

Pownce

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

The one thing that I still like about Pownce is that you can share files. I just shared a file and seeing if it shows up on my FriendFeed.

Technically Speaking, there are a lot of ignorant people in the area I live; reasons heard to vote for John McCain in November astound me - thought it was 1958 instead of 2008 - I have been pondering that for a the last 24-48 hours now.

Google going old school…

Friday, June 6th, 2008

Now this is some old school advertising done by Google in Russia.

Technically Speaking, maybe that is the next big trend - park bench advertising! haha! :)

Great Friday afternoon story…

Friday, June 6th, 2008

I saw this blog post that sounds like something out of a Lifetime original movie. If you think about it, more web/interent stuff seems to be making it’s way into the script writers of Hollywood. I’m sure that some writer is looking for inspiration today on an interesting story that isn’t the next cookie cutter reality show.

Now I wonder if lost relative will find me? I doubt it as I look quite different from when I was younger. Interestingly enough, my real parents (since I was adopted), probably have no clue what I looked like. There is of course the oft chance that I look just like one of them at my age.

Technically Speaking, it’s storming hard here in the STL this afternoon and this above linked post was like having a good book to read.

Plurk, hate to admit it..

Thursday, June 5th, 2008

I don’t get it at all. Plurk.

It’s not something that jumps out at you and says “Ah, this would be really useful in my life!” FriendFeed was easy to understand and made total sense. This Plurk thing - not so much. I thought this Plurk thing was going to be similar to FriendFeed or twitter, but so far I don’t see the similarity at all. I see a big orange mess.

Maybe it’s me, but I have always had a few requirements for good apps, mashups, startups, etc..

1. Keep It Simple Stupid - KISS - one of the biggest rock n’ roll bands in the world, as well as the best thing to remember when you are creating anything - music, good apps, mashups, startups, etc.

2. You have 7 seconds - Maybe less to impress new people. I stared at Plurk more than once, and I still am thinking to myself — “WTF?!? and what is the F’n point?!”

3. See rules #1 and #2.

Technically Speaking, at least other people thatwho are smarter than me are having a hard time understanding it also.
