Living without twitter or how that didn’t work!

Friday, August 15th, 2008

Early this week, I said I was going to try to just stay off of twitter entirely. See if I could do it. With business the way it currently is at Lookery and all the cool data that is being shown for free - it was simply impossible! Now many people don’t believe that twitter’s way of communicating is effective business, but we seem to thrive on it with a tweet or three a week.

As you look at my stats, you can clearly see who my audience is and where they are coming from. But since this blog doesn’t get a whole ton of traffic, you should really check out some cool high traffic sites in our network.

Anyone running a site can benefit from statistics like this, and it’s simply signing up and registering your site. Than another 10 seconds to copy and paste the code into your site(s) page(s). Pretty simple. Almost like Google Analytics code, yes, that simple! Not only that, if you are not running ads on your site but rather do that on your own - you now have compelling data to show potential advertisers of your site(s) demographics.

Enough about work, it’s time to hit the buffet! Not literally of course, too many pushy people that like to do the unthinkable - backing up in the buffet line. Actually though, I did hit the buffet for real this week.

Seriously now, one item of interest I saw this morning was about AOL buying SocialThing. Is this a good deal or bad deal? Considering I was reading recently of how AOL is hanging on to a thread of life. Or do they still call that reorganization? My thought was that AOL was going to be bought, but apparently it’s just a shuffle the deck move once again. At least the guys over at SocialThing have now confirmed the deal.

The other item of interest it seems is all the Olympic coverage or lack thereof. I have actually watched like 10 minutes of coverage, beach volleyball. You can get pretty good coverage of what is happening on the major sites such as SI.

I’m glad to see that it appears a cease fire has been signed between Russia and Georgia. I was actually keeping up with that news over any Olympic coverage this past week. It seems like no matter what, there is always someone at the games being accused of cheating, or better yet - a war breaks out somewhere that just shows how barbaric humans really are.

One item to keep watching is how Glam is surging almost quietly online. They seem to be the leader these days, and I have read stories in the past few weeks about how they are overtaking the marketplace. When I had other writers on this blog, I was more in tune with such sites as Geek Sugar. I even did some video back in the day. Quite funny that there are still links to the videos. Out of all of them, I think the banana episode was pretty funny.

Technically Speaking, it’s all about the data and wish I had the time to do more videos again! Unfortunately how do you think Lookery serves billions of ads monthly? Well it’s time for me to get to work, that’s how!!

YouTube is paying it’s best …

Friday, May 4th, 2007

Now a lot of the articles you read today are going to say that YouTube isn’t paying “me“, as in that person. Well for one, I’m sure that your video sucks like mine do. So that is why you are not getting paid. The top tier will be making some more money starting today.

Lisa Nova is one that will be getting paid, more money starting this morning. In fact, if you watch one of her videos, you will understand the difference between say one of my videos and hers. Does that make me any less talented? Of course not! I just happen to think that over the last 24 hours, I have been forced into being such a downer, we need to lighten up and see some funny stuff.

Now many of you (yeah, probably YOU) will say “Oh he is only supporting SplashCast due to getting the free video camera!” Sorry to inform you, I was a big supporter of their service long before I received that. In fact, I put out more videos with the borrowed camera I was using then the one I received from them.

Technically Speaking, kick back and enjoy, laugh, relax. Let’s spread some good in the world this Friday weekend heading into Cinco De Mayo!

Lisa Nova, do you even need to ask “why” she is getting more money!

Rex Dixon, the rex.tv pilot video:

Yes, I do miss working with Mae Oakmont, here is one of the last projects we worked on together. This was filmed with the borrowed camera.

Mae Oakmont and Scot Duke update

Tuesday, April 10th, 2007

Mae Oakmont will no longer be writing for this blog. Her extended leave of absence will be longer then expected. I wish her the best of luck in her future, and if she is ever ready to come back, I can always use an alternate view. I most of all will miss making the videos. I had a great time doing those.

Scot Duke is having too much fun playing golf! He just returned from Las Vegas last week, and I’m sure after looking at some Las Vegas Real Estate, he is ready to head there permanently. Just kidding, Scot! Seriously, he has seminars and book writing, as well as some professional blogging to do. I wish him the best, and I’m sure he may pop in here from time to time; if not with a new article then definitely with a good comment or three!

Technically Speaking, you have been updated.

Where are Mae and Scot?

Monday, March 19th, 2007

If you missed my post on it - Mae and Scot are both on a Leave Of Absence from this blog. Mae said to me personally yesterday that she might return this week. Scot is busy playing golf and promoting his business, as well as the GMAFB.

Technically Speaking, I look for both to return in maybe a few more weeks. We shall see. Until then getting on twitter or signing up for it - would be way to stay in touch; twitter my page. Did you check out that cool twittervision yet?

Friggin’ Break Report Episode #2

Wednesday, February 21st, 2007

It’s online. You can of course see it on the SplashCast window on the right side bar. The YouTube and Revver URL’s take forever, so I’ll drop them here in the morning when they are done “approving” that video. Until then — you know — use the SplashCast! I’ll update this post when I wake up around 5am.

Technically Speaking, I think this one is a progress from the last few videos. Oh, and here is the web site that is now also on GMAFB (Unpublished - need to give it a Friggin’ Break!)

*** UPDATE *** Okay after sleeping for a few hours, the YouTube and Revver links are ready. I know there are people out there afraid to try anything new and easy to use, and stick with the tried and proven. Just because you do not want to try SplashCast, I still want you to see the video. Here are the links you need:

Friggin’ Break Report Episode #2 on YouTube

Friggin’ Break Report Episode #2 on Revver

Friggin’ Break It! - Give Me A Friggin’ Break dot com

There are 24 unpublished GMAFB, WTF, FUNNY still waiting for you to Friggin’ Break
It
!

Lastly, yes, I’m still learning how to do these. There still isn’t an active click screen or tinyurl yet in the video. Next one. Until then, here is the direct link to the site, that as stated has - exercising badgers, mushrooms popping up, snakes slithering, and that ever so funny and annoying song. Then… after all that — it should be enough time for you to click right here and head over to Friggin’ Break It! .. or some other unpublished story.
