Internet advertising $10 Billion, Google $700, Facebook signs ex-Yahoo exec, Kim Jong II - internet expert!

Friday, October 5th, 2007

Internet advertising $10 Billion - It seems like the big news of the day is the latest Q2 report from the IAB.

The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) today released the IAB Internet Advertising Revenue Report covering the second quarter and the first six months of 2007. Internet advertising revenues (U.S.) for the first six months of 2007 were nearly $10 billion, setting yet another new record and representing a nearly 27 percent increase over the first half of 2006. Internet advertising revenue totaled nearly $5.1 billion for the second quarter of 2007, exceeding the $5 billion mark for the first time in a quarter, a 25.4 percent increase over the same period in 2006.

Google $700 - Now this sort of worries me. Is Google really worth this much a share? I guess according to Barron’s they are projected to reach that figure by end of 2008. Let’s all see if this materializes into fact, considering all the other issues going on around in the world today.

Bear Stearns Internet analyst Robert Peck today set a $700 target on Google (GOOG) for year-end 2008, and raised his earnings estimates for the Internet giant.

Facebook sings ex-Yahoo exec - What interested me was the fact that it looks like Facebook is now definitely no longer just a college social network. They are in the works to translate their site into foreign languages according to the article on Mashable.

Kim Jong II - internet expert! - Ok. First off, dude needs a hairstylist. Yes, Kim Jong II - leader of the people’s republic of North Korea gets online. I wonder if it’s via a Mac or PC? Inquiring minds really want to know, and those with style - want to know WTF told him that his hairstyle looks great! :)

“I’m an Internet expert too. It’s all right to wire the industrial zone only, but there are many problems if other regions of the North are wired,” Kim told Roh, according to Yonhap.

“If that problem is addressed, there is no reason not to open” the Internet, Kim said.

Technically Speaking, seems to be more news today (and it’s Friday) than most of this past week! Oh and yes, I use to be what they termed back in the 80’s and 90’s a “hair farmer“. :) wireless router
