Propeller re-invents, re-loads, and checks out of the deadpool…

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

Propeller, AOL’s new social news site relaunched today. Well I guess that last statement was really just another lie, as they aren’t new at all. Read the tag line “re-invents, re-loads, and checks out of the deadpool… ” They are not new, and I feel that without a whole bunch of new, sites like Digg have already passed them up. Yet Digg is still lacking.

What is it today, the year of 2006 rerun and rejected ideas day? I know it was Talk Like a Pirate Day from Marshall’s earlier article this morning, which I really enjoyed, didn’t know it was International Talk Like a Pirate Day! Arrrrrrr! Seriously, though this seems like some zombie crawling out of the deadpool to harass the masses of online users with a big media blitz campaign.

Do we really need a zombie blitzing us with a dead-zone-pool network that didn’t work the first time? I mean seriously, just earlier this week Yahoo launched their version of social fun. Neither one is even close. They are all imitated clones of what sort of works, but not quite.

I feel that someone is really close, and not you MySpace to getting it right - dead on serious. I left a comment to that effect on the above post that was a nice write up on Propeller. I am finding a lot of fault with everything that I’m reading this evening. I bet you can’t tell that. Condo Hotels

Technically Speaking, the writing is fantastic out there tonight. Lot’s of thesis worthy blog posts going down, but yet, something is missing. Do you feel what I’m saying?

Warner to wage war on pirates

Monday, April 2nd, 2007

I wonder what pirates? Warner is waging war on the pirates. I still wonder, what pirates?

The ones that bought that island/oil rig in the north Atlantic? Will there be an assault of my imagination as Warner Executives go swashbuckling up the platform. Halt Pirates! We shall take over your country. That wasn’t funny, but I can see it in my head right now. It’s still slow, news wise, but I’m hoping it will pick up later on.

Technically Speaking, I think I have given the pirates over in the north Atlantic a bit more press then they ever thought they would get by a single blog.

Flo and Lucky

Wednesday, March 14th, 2007

I see a problem with this. How does the dog know if the disc they smell is illegal? I guess if you plan to go on holiday to Malaysia make sure you carry no CD’s or DVD’s with you. Flo and Lucky might just shred your belongings!

SEPANG, Malaysia (Reuters) - Malaysia deployed two sniffer dogs in its battle against music and movie piracy on Tuesday, becoming the first country in the world to use the animals to hunt for disks of illegal recordings hidden in cargo.

Two female Black Labradors, “Flo” and “Lucky,” demonstrated their technique by sniffing through piles of sealed cartons in an air cargo hangar and then signaling their handler about a suspect package by sitting down in front of it.

“It’s cost-effective, and in terms of time, it’s very effective too,” said Domestic Trade Minister Shafie Apdal, adding that the dogs took only 10 minutes to check boxes that security officials would have needed a day to plow through.

Saturday Round Up

Saturday, February 24th, 2007

Well next up will be a “real” blog by the special guest blogger. But for now, check the Link Blog and here are some items of interest I found.

Facebook - They are figuring it out. Psst.. It starts with buying some shoes. :)

OpenID - Allen goes into details on OpenID. Jake goes into details about OpenID. I apologize to both Allen and Jake for not seeing this. In a related side note — Allen — YOU are the digg monster in the past couple of days! 648 diggs!! Wow! :)
France - Do you hear the dot boom calling in Europe?

Pirates of Hollywood - I have already talked about these Pirates in the past, and yes, Hollywood is teaming up with them. It’s a head scratcher, that is for sure.

Top 10 Domain names - Well the top ten stupid ones. It is Saturday, right?

Google Reader and WP - This looks like a great idea for the Link Blog.

Netvibes2go - A nice write up about Netvibes2go.

MyBlogLog apology - Nice job Eric. It had to be a hard decision to make. The first one, as well as knowing when to say you are sorry. MBL is really a great service, and hopefully in the future things won’t all be on Eric’s shoulders.

Mashable roundup - Mashables round up for the day.

SV Republicans - Interesting contributing article about the GOP and SV and IPO’s.

Technically Speaking, I have the special guest post coming up, and then I will be dumping items into the Link Blog.

Vista sales slump blamed on..

Monday, February 19th, 2007

Pirates??? Give Me A Friggin’ Break Steve! That is the most GMAFB/WTF item I have seen all morning. It is not Pirates Steve, it’s your lack of respect for the intelligent computer buying public. It’s NOT Pirates Steve. Trust me. I had predicted Vista would have issues from the time it was announced of the actual release date. I was slammed in my comments about it.

Technically Speaking, These guys here are the only Pirates that I know! They could care less about Vista!

Next up? How about some wacky Pirates?

Tuesday, February 13th, 2007

Yes, the pirates.jpegpirates that are trying to buy their own country out in the middle of nowhere. Those pirates. They were featured in Vanity Fair. Is this good enough for a GMAFB item? I may add a new category there called WEIRD!

Technically Speaking, I think I will. In fact I think I will add a couple out there in a few minutes. Be sure to get in on the fun at Give Me A Friggin’ Break dot com!
