Scriggity, fun and interesting…

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

scriggity-logo.JPGScriggity is a new site that seems to be quite potentially fun. I uploaded a quick video from my Blackjack, don’t know if they will use it, as it was really quick and I didn’t really say anything interesting. The concept seems easy to understand, and if you don’t get it - just drop them a video via e-mail.

Technically Speaking, the site is run (founded I guess the correct term would be) by Drew and Shauna; Drew as many of you know is a tech evangelist for the company Pluggd. Now that is some cool technology there (Pluggd). You could also buy some Arizona real estate.

More on chunk searching, Pluggd style…

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

pluggd-logo.JPGPluggd, a company who I did a short piece on has written even more on their chunking process. Apparently it raised some questions on the Pluggd end of things. I also noticed that I have talked about Pluggd very early in the history of this blog.

So what is up with this chunk search? Well they have broken it down even further. It’s pretty cool technology. It does get you to the parts of a video faster then say just hit and miss.

So what is the main excitement around chunking? They compensate, which is how they pick out the chunks. Searching for difficult names like the golfer “Vijay Singh” could produce this result:

Technically Speaking, if that entices you some more, then I have done my job here and I encourage you to read more on their latest post which explains chunking even further.

Google is it for search? Think again…

Thursday, May 17th, 2007

Here is a prime example of why the Google search and find all might not be exactly what people are really looking for. Take as a great example a site like Pluggd who have been around for a short period now. What do they do? They search in chunks.

Why is chunk searching better then just finding a ton of videos that say “Rex Dixon” for example? Well what if you only wanted to hear me say something about “Planypus“. Now if you used Google search, you would find all the videos I have online. Do you really want to sit through all those minutes of awkwardness that occurred at times?

The point of this article is just to bring awareness to everyone out there. Don’t take everything Google as everything good. I like what Google has done, but there are other innovative companies out there that do things better. It’s time for people to realize that an “all in one” search is maybe not what people really need.

Technically Speaking, I will have to strongly agree. If I want to watch a funny scene, or hear about one particular topic, 3 minutes can be forever, and 7 minutes that I watched last night was forever. I don’t think I even finished the Chad Hurley and the congressman video.

Revish, Facebook, Pluggd twitter

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007

Pluggd twitter - Everyone is pluggin’ in to twitter, have you twitter followed me or anyone for that matter?

Facebook - What’s next? Selling as long as Mark remembers to turn his phone on this time! :)

Revish - Book lovers social network. I know Kittymama will like this one.

Technically Speaking, that is it for the moment. I watch, and I see that you all have not visited the actual sponsors lately? I know I have done some changes as well as added some other ads.

I have already heard that in IE this new design is not great. Well, I go on record and say - I do not design for IE, this site is best viewed in FireFox.

Please visit them all - Collarity, DigitalRon, askitonline, yourminis, HTPBG (new updated URL!), and Planypus. I thank you in advance, and they all thank you for taking a few minutes to check them out!

Search The State Of The Union

Monday, January 22nd, 2007

Do we really need this? Do we really need to be told that things are not going well? I guess so. It’s tradition, but maybe the next President will go online with this. Record it for YouTube, or Revver. Get it online so we can watch it at our leisure. Do the MySpace Video version. Do it on MetaCafe. Just do it online. The next President will have the advantages of harnessing this thing we all enjoy and taking it up to the next level.

Now Pluggd is going to make sure you can rip every bit of what this President says tomorrow night in the State of The Union address. Should be quite interesting to see how many bloggers decide to post the breakdown.

Technically Speaking, I think I’ll read the results of that one with the rest of you readers.
