Afternoon Delight Round Up: Friday 3/30/2007

Friday, March 30th, 2007

Feedily - This is a hypothetical Web 2.0 start up story; could use an angel investor or VC look.

CenterNetworks Video Review - Allen does the Washington Post this time; yesterday, in case you missed it, he did a follow on video review of the Kontrib article that was on VentureBeat.

Nokia Coffin - Caption contest by Engadget.

Confused about Project Agape? - I think this is a better explanation; * full disclosure - yes, I also write for VentureBeat, but this is my honest opinion - this is better then what I read this morning; a lot more in depth.

Pathetic Attempts - To grab some Web 2.0 love. This is not going to cut it folks.

AppleTV - Just might have to look into this further as I do live in the city of the defending Word Champion St. Louis Cardinals! :)

Technically Speaking, it’s Friday - get out and have a blast!

Project Gaping Hole

Friday, March 30th, 2007

I saw a few immediate feed links to Project Agape when I first fired up the browser today. From what I read over on Om’s site, as well as TC, I’m still in the dark. Project Agape as it’s called is Sean Parker’s new baby. I guess that makes it compelling to talk about.

Most of mainstream America could give a rat’s ass about Sean Parker, and Project Agape might as well be named “Project Gaping Hole“. Now here below is the best clue that was given, as the project is still under a lot of secrecy and construction, as Mike sees it:

Charities, political parties and affinity groups all rely on participation from people who share the same beliefs and ideals. But recruiting and fundraising are largely stuck in the pre-Internet era: social pressure and guilt are applied to get others to donate to that marathon for the Leukemia society, or donate time working with the homeless. Parker wants to harness those proven incentive structures use his new startup to increase their effectiveness.

Technically Speaking, it does sound worthwhile, but I would consider going with a different name when you launch it. See how easy it was for someone such as myself to turn a good thing into a joke of a name? That took me all of 5 seconds, as when I first read both Mike and Om’s articles - that is exactly how I felt - Project Gaping Hole.
