Afternoon Delight Round Up: Tuesday 4/24/2007

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

For your drive or ride home from work:

Judge Denies RIAA - When is the organization going to just be dismantled, destroyed, and left for dead? Please, the RIAA is a worthless organization that is in it for itself. Musicians and artists rely on other more reliable companies. Companies like ASCAP for example. The RIAA is like a fly, swat and move on to the — NEXT!

Blinkx - Partners up with National Geographic. I have heard a lot about Blinkx lately; I guess I need to check them out. The only thing, time is limited for just zoning out on videos!

One For the Smile - Just for fun, it’s nice to know that one day our children’s children may have a place to go when we destroy our own planet. Whether or not this is total fact, does that matter?

We live on a planet that has been in a constant state of war for decades. We pollute our waterways, our land, and burn up the natural resources in every wasteful way we can.

It’s just a nice thought that there may be a saving grace when the technology catches up. When we can shoot members of the human race over there in a sensible amount of time.

Technically Speaking, there probably is more - but good thoughts are always great for the drive or ride home!

Time for a Round Up

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

It’s Tuesday, and here to keep up is a round up. I’ll keep the sarcasm to a minimum, I’m sure you have had your fill for the day already.

New Internet - I keep having someone whispering in my ear about “they” are going to “reset” the internet soon. Maybe “they” will put the “new internet” on Akamai CDN?

CastTV - Yes, they take $3.1 million, and this article looks similar to the one referenced. Which one was written first? ValleyWag in the making over on NewTeeVee?

Another $10 million - That is what YouSendIt just had funded to them.

Girls Like You Now? - Really. Freakin’ amazing Steve. Do tell. In fact, don’t bother, there is more news that actually matters.

FogShield - Uhm, this was not the news I had in mind; just in queue for this round up.

PowerTwitter - I definitely will have to give this a go!

Technically Speaking, more coming later on ….

Chew On This Round Up…

Tuesday, April 24th, 2007

There will be some new information found only here at 8:30am EDT time. Look for it.

UStream.tv
- covered by Frank; tried to leave a comment, but I couldn’t read those cryptic letters!

Dead Mac - This is the second one I have heard of in recent memory. Apple, even though it looks super sexy and cool; keep your Macbook Pro for now. Sigh.

TechCrunch UK - They are going to relaunch it, and they are looking for their new person to run the show.

Facebook/VT - Great overview, long article.

RSS - Video RSS explained in plain English. I’d like Marshall’s spin on this since he is the RSS expert.

GreenTeaGirlie - Sounds like fun to me; another LonelyGirl15 in the making.

Amiga - $500 OS packages will not cut it!

Technically Speaking, look for something new in about 45 minutes; 8:30am EDT.

Oh yeah, and you can watch the chair today; waiting on my download of the Feisty Fawn ISO. The network update just hung on me! So I cranked up my UStream.tv feed into rex.tv for a bit. Up for a limited time - the stream usually crashes every few hours. Get a good look at the chair today! hahahah…

RIM, FabFemme…

Monday, April 23rd, 2007

RIM - Virtual BlackBerry. Is this going to be safe? I mean, what was their line last week when the service went down? Do we really want to muck up a phone? I would just get a BlackBerry if that is the service we like to use.

FabFemme - New Bisexual and Gay social network for women. From what I am reading, it appears they will shoot for the pocketbook or wallet right away

aims to connect women on a personal and professional level, both online and offline. While FabFemms has several paid levels for their networking service, they have a free option as well, which is rather limited.

Technically Speaking, rolling!

Sunday Round Up: 4/22/2007

Sunday, April 22nd, 2007

It is a beautiful day here in the STL. The BBQ grills will be going, and that includes mine. With that being said, here is what I have found that deems a good read today:

Boston Censorship - Boing Boing is being blocked on public WiFI networks in Boston. By order of the Mayor’s office. Wow! Censorship in Boston.

Statsaholic-Alexa - A widget to track the ongoing support or the slamming of.

Vertagio - Now this one is sort of cool. CenterNetworks reposted my post from the other day. Thanks Allen! This validates what I write to be reposted in such a high profile blog. Much appreciated, as when you blog daily, sometimes you start to wonder if it is worth it.

Not Always - About the money. Sometimes the location does matter. Seattle or Silicon Valley. Which would you choose are your companies new home?

Techinline - A company that one of my favorite bloggers, Ali of everybodygoto, supports. He explains the service well in this article.

Eight New Google Apps - Coming to a browser near you soon!

twitter gets real - This gets human. Sad to see someone with so much promise die suddenly. Even sadder if you had this person as a twitter friend.

Technically Speaking, as I sit here and blog daily living outside of the SV or the tech triangle I also wonder to myself quietly, “Is This Really Worth It?” I think there are many benefits, and even though the money isn’t coming in boat loads, as we see above, it is not always about the money.

Never thought I would say that, did you? One last thing on this Sunday until later on, as I have a BBQ to get ready to produce today - if you have not done so - please give your 10 answers and let my sponsor know if it is really worth it - ANSWER THE SURVEY!

Lastly — Please visit all of my sponsors today; you know them - and I’m not talking just the affiliate ads (do appreciate the outbound links I am seeing) or the Google AdSense (ditto!) stuff - but the for real people -

such as - Collarity, Planypus, HTPBG, DigitalRon, yourminis, and askitonline. These are the real deal sponsors of this blog! Please visit them at least once a week if you get a minute. They appreciate it, and you can never tell when something new is going on there. Oh.. feel free to buy a t-shirt, do a video or take a picture wearing it - I’ll promo it!

Spiderman 3, Torrentspy, Buy Your Friend a Drink, AMD

Saturday, April 21st, 2007

The super duper dig deeper round up! It’s Saturday, and this is pretty much the Saturday serving you receive. It’s like this every weekend, there is no need to dig out the reporting software, as there is nothing really to “report”.

Spiderman 3 - Preview 7.5 minutes of the film. I found this here.

Torrentspy - Having Playboy Playmate Jennifer Walcott advertise their shirts? Great idea! I guess if I could get a Playmate to wear one of my shirts, I might sell a bunch.

Buy Your Friend A Drink - I heard about this a day or so ago. I was wondering if it would work. Apparently Caroline tried it, and it does work - buyyourfriendadrink.com (BYFAD).

$611 Million - As in net loss for AMD. That’s a lot of t-shirts!

Technically Speaking, I hope you have taken a minute of your time to fill out the ten question SURVEY FOR MY SPONSOR. Yes, the Link Blog is updated.

I feel guilty Round Up: 4/20/2007

Friday, April 20th, 2007

I’m quite busy today, but it seems that news has caught up in mass today. I feel guilty, because I don’t have the time to write further on any of these:

Google Profits - They are through the roof. I mentioned the 1st Qtr earning news earlier, but apparently they are like pushing 70%! Wow! They are taking over, and doing it piece by piece. Maybe it will be 2017 by the time they just take over totally?

Startup blogging - It seems to be quite popular these days. This is a company called Ballhype, and the link is to a blog they keep. Very interesting, and you may find Jimmy’s blog also interesting.

Viddyou - Another YouTube clone; may as well capitalize on the collapse of one the biggest collapses of 2007.

Amazon vs Statsaholic - This is totally lame. Not the article(s), but the whole Amazon suing Statsaholic. I’m glad that Mashable started this campaign. I hope the judge hands Amazon their A$$ on a platter. This is quite lame of them to do this, and it’s quite lame of Alexa to steal the ideas that Statsaholic provided them!

Ali you gotta - Let loose man! haha! J/K! I went overboard, but the consensus is pretty much the same everywhere about MySpace News.

Bloggers Have Influence? - Great points raised by Marshall in this post. Did the blogosphere contribute or influence the Hitwise buy out?

SAP - The news is not as good this morning. AMD isn’t smiling either.

Joost - Ten good channels to watch. Joost was not given much of a look in the get go; times have changed since YouTube started to walk to tall, too fast.

Circuit City/Napster - This is an interesting partnership.

Revolution - Without limits according to godfather Bill Gates. :)

Patent sells - For $2.6 million, the patent on Mobile Social Networking.

A day without SplashCast, well that just isn’t right!

Pop Tech - A conference overview, and of course a SplashCast to view:

It gets better. I didn’t know that Frank had a video on SplashCast - for his Tech Cocktail events; here it is:

SimpleWeather - I like this concept; the stripped down concept we are seeing a lot of these days. Nice site guys.

Google buys Marratech - They bought Swedish company Marratech and quietly announced it via their blog. More information also right here.

Technically Speaking, busy day today - there probably won’t be another update until later this evening. Enjoy, and Happy Friday to all!

Morning Round Up: 4/20/2007

Friday, April 20th, 2007

I’m in a bit of rush this morning. I did actually sign up for Vertagio this morning. I did a pretty decent Link Blog run, but here are the stand outs so far:

Google 1st Qtr - The announcement for the earning for the 1st Qtr that ended on March 31st for Google. Interesting enough, the link is from Yahoo Finance!

Reason for Failure - It appears that RIM is actually publicly stating why the BlackBerry had an outage the other evening.

Office 2.0 - Interesting, a casting call for a Vlogger sitcom.

More Video - All of us online will be remembered in history as “Vain Nation”.

Vuze - Want Hi-Def videos? There ya go…

Technically Speaking, with that being said, “Gotta roll!”

Afternoon Delight Round Up: 4/18/2007

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

Facebook - To launch local classifieds; maybe!

CrackBerry - BlackBerry Anonymous will be forming right around the corner - Angel’s/VC’s take note - great investment, you have plenty of customers!

MyBowlAd - Super Bowl ad time for some dudes. Sounds like a plan to me!

Business Ops Mistakes - A great article to read if you are in business.

Always On - Not for the whore Scoble! Watch Dave Winer’s video on that link first. :)

Setdot - Uhm, just like eVite, so why? Is there anything different? I say - try Planypus.

Another Day - At the Microsoft office. Not the that office, but the one where they cut the checks to the lawyers!

Technically Speaking, that is it for the moment. Need to take a break, rex.tv if you are bored, Link Blog if you want to read good articles; unlike this round up.

Morning Round Up: 4/18/2007

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

Not much going on today. Unless of course you have not caught up on all the good items that Mashable dished out in the past 24 hours! Of course, unfortunately if you live in Thailand, you won’t be able to go there. Also if you lived in Thailand you couldn’t enjoy reeds jewelers, but that is an entirely different story.

VoIP - Growing in Argentina; maybe Vonage should set up shop there?

Less Accounting - Moves into public beta; I could swear I talked about them in the past. I couldn’t find the link. ?

BlackBerry is DOWN - Wow, all those crackberry addicts are probably freaking out.

Afterworld - New show that is taking off via Bud.tv

TechStars - Kind of like Y-Combinator.

Podcast Hotel 3 - In San Francisco this weekend. Here is the SplashCast below:

Technically Speaking, that is it for now.

One last thing, I was speaking with Mr Business Golf, and he will definitely be putting out some statistics on his survey. Just need some more participation. It should only take a few minutes of your time (only 10 questions) - so - Hit The Survey Today. I thank you for helping out my sponsor, and if you have already taken it - Double Thanks!
