A Few More: Microsoft takes on Salesforce, AOL launches MyAOL, thoughts from pmarca
Tuesday, July 10th, 2007A Few More or what is known as a Round Up in other terms:
Microsoft takes on Salesforce - Ah, nice to see the king of the hill taking on a worthy opponent. Why not just buy them? I guess competition is more fun, like how when a cat paws at a mouse until they just kill the mouse.
As growth slowed in recent years at Microsoft’s Office division, which specializes in such business productivity applications as e-mail and spreadsheet creation, the software company looked for opportunities in other areas. Customer-relationship management (CRM) software seemed an ideal candidate. The programs help sales staff track leads and fit well with the contact lists and calendar applications in Office’s Outlook program.
AOL launches MyAOL - AOL - wow, the memories of dial up days. I guess they have gone way past that user experience, but I had to use AOL once a few years back. I hated dial up.
This morning AOL launched myAOL, a group of three services wrapped up into one customizable page. MyAOL is made up of three services: myPage, a customizable start page akin to Pageflakes or Netvibes; Mgnet–an audiovisual mashup of news; and Favorites–which for all intents and purposes is a Web-based RSS reader. All three offer various ways of browsing, reading, and discovering news and Web content.
pmarca the blogger - Different world out here, eh?
Yeah, it’s like the wild west, but only 21st century style.
This post is to share lessons I have learned about blogging so far, five weeks into this blog.
First, it’s hard to believe it’s only been five weeks. “Internet time” lives, I can tell you that.
Second, I’d like to truly thank everyone who has read this blog, linked to this blog, sent this blog to your friends, or come up to me at various parties and events to say that you’ve been reading it — and
Technically Speaking, that is it for the moment, but the moment can only be defined by the amount of time it takes for me to think of something else. When might that be? It could happen a minute from now or tomorrow.
