Vlog’ing made easy with Magnify.net

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

magnify-newlogo.pngMagnify.net is taking Video Blogging to the masses with its new, free video publishing and hosting service. The new platform is much more than just another Webcam service as Magnify.net lets people build a dedicated online video channel featuring not just their own videos, but also content-specific video - regardless of where it is hosted.

Unlike other social networks and warehouses that host random videos, they let its users create and tailor their own programming based on their interests and that of their target community. The site owner and their viewers record, discover, upload, and add new videos to feature on their channel based on the unique flavor of each channel.

Fresh out of private beta, the new video blogger-in-a-box kit features an intuitive, plug-and-play Webcam capture tool that allows creators to build a Vlog (video blog) page and decorate their channel with their own graphics and design elements. With just a webcam, their Vlog can go live within minutes. Magnify.net also offers stylish and slick templates to make the graphic design process drag-and-drop simple.

Podcamp co-founder and online media guru Chris Brogan is currently hosting a daily video blog called Attention Upgrade, where he shares the most interesting things in tech and news media marketing that have his attention for the day. Jeff Hibbard has launched a new mobile weblog that follows him on his daily adventures around town.

Technically Speaking, if you do a search on this blog, you can find all my past coverage of Magnify.net. colon cleanse

Morning Round Up: 4/20/2007

Friday, April 20th, 2007

I’m in a bit of rush this morning. I did actually sign up for Vertagio this morning. I did a pretty decent Link Blog run, but here are the stand outs so far:

Google 1st Qtr - The announcement for the earning for the 1st Qtr that ended on March 31st for Google. Interesting enough, the link is from Yahoo Finance!

Reason for Failure - It appears that RIM is actually publicly stating why the BlackBerry had an outage the other evening.

Office 2.0 - Interesting, a casting call for a Vlogger sitcom.

More Video - All of us online will be remembered in history as “Vain Nation”.

Vuze - Want Hi-Def videos? There ya go…

Technically Speaking, with that being said, “Gotta roll!”

Chicago Personal Injury Lawyer - Round Up!

Thursday, April 12th, 2007

Not really. Go see the link “Money Words” from that post. What post? The one I linked to the words “Not Really” above. Confused?

No need to be, sit back, read my comments and decide if you want to know more. In other words - Round Up time:

Apple Video Tips - Very useful, as I am just starting to tinker with video.

Ubuntu 6.10 - A cheat sheet; glad to have this one, as I have to do some messing around on this laptop and file server soon. I get ready to every evening, but never get to it.

Old PC’s - They are worth some money now! That is good news. I’m trying to revive and utilize the two that are sitting off to my left. I look like the “poor” version of ShoeMoney right now. hah!

Om Wraps the Photobucket fiasco - I’m really glad I sort of passed on all that today. MySpace vs Photobucket. I checked my MySpace page out earlier, and everything looked fine to me.

April 19th - Get ready for Feisty Fawn — and I was just posting the cheat sheet for Edgy above. 6.10 is going to 7.04 as far as Ubuntu is concerned. Some of you already have the 7.04 beta I’m sure!

MyStartupJobs - Allen always has some good content; daily!

IMSafer - As my comment on this post states — who has time to IM? I’ll IM dangerously! haha!

Technically Speaking, it would be nice to have a vacation home rental that made residual income!

Josh Wolf has been freed from prison

Wednesday, April 4th, 2007

Some would say that blogging is an easy profession. Oh it’s easy alright, minus the long hours you spend looking for things to write about, or in the case of Josh Wolf; something to video blog about. It appears the government tried to squeeze something that didn’t exist out of him.

Here is a quote from his press conference following his release:

Wolf, 24, read a prepared statement to the small crowd of media and well-wishers. In it, he quoted a dissenting opinion from 1972’s U.S. v. Caldwell, a case concerning coercion of a journalist’s testimony, saying, “As the years pass the power of government becomes more and more pervasive. It is a power to suffocate both people and causes. Those in power, whatever their politics, want only to perpetuate it. Now that the fences of the law and the tradition that has protected the press are broken down, the people are the victims. The First Amendment, as I read it, was designed precisely to prevent that tragedy.”

Technically Speaking, the government seems to try to always control things it does not understand. The internet as a whole is a good example. The government in power is not in charge of the internet, but yet they keep trying to be. Trying to control something you do not understand can be a dangerous undertaking.

Nokia N95 phone

Sunday, March 18th, 2007

This phone must totally rock hard -= Nokia N95 =- I mean if you can shoot an entire video on it, and watch it also - that just rocks. I did see where some musician filmed an entire music video on the phone. Where can I get a free one? I tried to get Nokia as a sponsor at one point in time; yeah - turned down flat. I was just wanting that other smart phone then, but this one seriously rocks. I’ll take one of these over any smart phone that hangs off people’s belts like a deck of cards

Technically Speaking, the Nokia N95 is one rocking phone. I don’t even have one, and I can still say it rocks right?

IBM Social Network?

Monday, January 22nd, 2007

Sure why not. Everyone else has had a crack at it. Funny thing, the only one that has succeeded to grow and make some deals is MySpace. Facebook would have had the big time money, but I guess $1 Billion was just not enough. Facebook for the corporate set? Interesting way to put it, but I hear the real players don’t like the online world? What gives here? Is there really truth behind the lies of hate and disgust?

I’m game to give my spin on another social network. Do I believe it’s all over? Not hardly. Why not, I mean it seems to be what runs this version of the internet these days. Social Networks, Blogs, Videos, Podcasts, Wiki this, wiki that, search this, search that, mash this, mash that, widgets everywhere, TV online, IPTV (or however they want to call that one) and so on. If you haven’t figured it out by now, the internet even though getting more mature everyday has found corners of niche everywhere.

IBM launches a social network? It doesn’t surprise me one bit. Now, Technically Speaking, we move on to the next part or phase of this. What is that? Why don’t you tell me?

YouTube doesn’t need a SWAT team RIAA assault

Thursday, January 18th, 2007

I guess I will tell this blogger why YouTube pulled down the vlogger’s video. It just doesn’t matter these days. You can say it is protected under some creative commons thing, or whatever you want. The RIAA is running like it’s the wild wild west, and the law in the RIAA’s mind in this year 2007 is to “get swat team, bust down the door, burn, pillage and take what you have“.

Technically Speaking, I said it around 17 hours ago - the RIAA is getting Ridiculous!

John Edwards Exclusive Video on PodTech

Wednesday, January 3rd, 2007

You may have already seen Robert Scoble interview of John Edwards already. Some of you have not seen it. Even though I’ve been busy with the launch, promotion, and tweaking of this blog, I feel that this deserves a full post. You can watch it, and also download the audio. Why is there audio? Well you will have to read the article above. Let us just say that technology still has it’s issues. That issue would be needing power!
If you haven’t noticed yet, I have dropped a ton of stuff off in the - Rex’s Link Blog - already this evening and this morning. The Link Blog works. I highly recommend all bloggers give it a go. It really is a nice time saver where you can weed through all the daily data you could blog on.

Back to the video. The only thing I wish was that the airplane noise wasn’t so overpowering. Other then that, it’s a great insight to the man John Edwards and why he wants to run for President. It also touches on the reasons he believes that the social media that is out there today as in blogs, vlogs, and podcasts are the way to go for getting his message out there. He also talks about how he blogs on the video.
Technically Speaking, I do not believe his staff would have agreed to invite all the bloggers that were able to go on the road with him last week. They were invited only because he truly believes in what we do. This is a person who is running for the President of the United States, and not student class president. John Edwards if nothing else has given the blogosphere credibility.
