The conference means - Round Up city week…

Monday, April 16th, 2007

It’s going to be hard pressed to keep up with a major conference going on this week. My computer memory, along with everyone else’s out there will probably be cooking to fry mode this week keeping up.

Let’s start off with some interesting financial news. Why? Why not! I think these two items are quite important:

Sallie Mae $25 billion - Sold! The housing market is something that really everyone needs to know about.

Wachovia - Profit’s rise by 33%. I remember when I interviewed for them; never heard of them back in those days!

Now on to the tech stuff. We kick it off with one of the most reliable sources for good information, CenterNetworks:

Viddler - Now Allen is a big Viddler fan. Everytime I see a post on it, I think “Batman” as in the RIDDLER! haha.

Want to watch people? - Web 2.0 conference hallway cam is about to be live and world wide! Better then watching my chair!

Fun Reading - It seems everyone has a bit of Jeff Foxworthy in them.

Technically Speaking, more in a few.

Tax Incentive Bill

Monday, March 19th, 2007

I am getting too political these days. I just wanted to point out the fact that while you are sitting there on your duff, full from dinner and maybe even had time to download, er, consume some google_ad_section_start –>beer - like Budweiser Selectgoogle_ad_section_end –> perhaps? Well I saw this earlier today, and I don’t want it to get lost in the shuffle.

There is a bill in congress that is in committee in both the House and the Senate. It is related to tax relief for the work from home person. I think you should take a look, and contact your appropriate member of congress to get them to sign off on this, and get a vote done on it.

Technically Speaking, I keep “talking/referring” to beer lately as I haven’t drank now in close to 4 days! Not on purpose or anything, just haven’t.

Get off your ass…

Wednesday, March 14th, 2007

Or die! Literally. I thought this was a great awareness article to the dangers of being a web worker. Dangers you say? Read the article to find out more of how you can die just by sitting on your duff! This came out earlier today, but I figure this was about the right time to remind everyone to get up and move about.

Final Thoughts

Saturday, February 10th, 2007

I just loaded up the Link Blog, so check that out. Here are three items I pulled out though. The first one is a small percentage that some of us have been able to get into:

Looking for an Internet Paycheck - I will just put the quote here, but you may just decide from this article that you are going to get in or work in the construction industry building new houses:

The United States government has released new employment numbers for the last several years, showing there were 933,000 more jobs than previously thought. A handful of them — 6,300, to be exact — were in Internet companies, including publishing and broadcasting. But that did not alter the trend.

myubo - New video site. It appears they are gearing it towards that cell phone video market. Looks pretty good from what I could see.

5 Key Trends from DEMO - Allen always hits it right on. That thought is even more apparent because he had a guest writer Patricia Handschiegel from Stylediary contribute for him! Nice job dude! Your blog CenterNetworks is going be near the top of the 2007 blog list come December. I can already see that coming on strong!

Technically Speaking, I really have to get a move on if this video is going to be coming out on Monday or next week, as well as needing some major work done on GMAFB or Give Me A Friggin’ Break. Link Blog!

Escape from corporate madness

Saturday, February 10th, 2007

Yes, that would be me. I am trying to make that escape, and be in the 14% that do the web worker daily thing full time. I have made great strides, and am closer to that reality now then ever before. Right now, unlike the web workers on the Om network I’m still making that run for the gold. They are sitting in that finish line area where King Om sits on his thrown throne. Yes, for those of you who read this blog daily, I was being totally sarcastic there.

Technically Speaking, I don’t use the word “throne” a lot. The one time I did, I was raped in the comment area by some pseudo English Professor!

Where the Jobs are in 2007

Sunday, January 28th, 2007

Right here. On the internet. Being a web worker is the job you want to have. You can be a nurse of course, as it’s still a very in demand field. Web Workers though enjoy things that other people don’t. That is the freedom to work when you feel like working. Have to take a sick child to the doctor? Go for it. You don’t need to grovel to your boss to say,”I need to take my child to the doctor today, sorry that I can’t be a slave to the grind for you!” Need to go to the park to get some fresh air while working a new presentation? Go for it. It’s a beautiful day and you need to work in the yard? No problem.

Yes, web working is where it’s at. There will be more web workers who are fed up with working for the master and being the slave this year then ever before. Technically Speaking, I hope to be one of them!
