Random Thoughts on this Labor Day

The RIAA has a long road to battle. In fact they pretty much have lost the war. Funny thing happened when I wrote this blog post. I started researching my old band, and found out the old demo songs were being traded on Chinese p2p sites. I said to myself “Screw that, it’s a freakin’ demo recorded back in 1993!” So I put up a MySpace page. Musicians are always going to be able to battle back and win in the new music biz. Case in point, this new metal band from Palm Coast, FL who I can’t wait to hear their tunes soon!

Music business. It’s dog eat dog, or big dogs eat small dogs. Something like that. Now here is a band that has long paid it’s dues now and is deserving of a big break. I actually shared a stage once up in Rapid City, SD many moons ago with the almost original lineup. They just released the new CD entitled Path of Totality - and Cessation Of Life only keeps defining metal the way it should be - not your Dad’s cooperate rock here! Of course they are on MySpace!

Speaking of Palm Coast, FL - if you live there and need some house cleaning done by honest, trustworthy and hard working people - you need to give Dust Bunny House Cleaning a try! One half of the team there is who taught my son how to play drums. Never met him before until I went to visit in March, yet I know people - and I could tell from our initial contact - he was one to be trusted without a doubt. Good people, great business - and this company of theirs will go far and the extra mile to earn your business.

Heading out to Boulder, Colorado this week. It appears there will be a few of you at the event I talked about, and we’re glad that you’ll be attending. Nothing like a few free drinks and good conversation with some interesting people.

Technically Speaking, enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend - no more holidays where people are off until November (unless you work in a bank or the federal government - than you have Columbus Day in October!).
